Kill blocks, save the world! Block Killer is what 1980 thought we'd be playing in 2010. Classic, single stick movement, simple push button shooting. Over 30 levels of arcade-style action! Do you have what it takes?

What I’m driving at is this, ladies and gentlemen. Block Killer is decidedly fun. It is very basic in everything that makes up a videogame: ultra simple controls, graphics, sound and gameplay. As you navigate your way through the indie titles on the 360 in search of Block Killer, think about this: Dragon’s Lair had far less interactivity, and it is widely regarded as a huge leap in innovation.

Block Killer might not be the Dragon’s Lair of today, but it beats it in one category – it’s actually fun.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by Block Killer as it evolved from simple shooting gallery into a diverse and challenging shooter.

There are a good few hours worth of gameplay found in Block Killer. You can breeze through the first third of the levels in thirty minutes or so, the later levels will take more time as they increase in difficulty. The game plays well and while you will only replay a few times to improve your score, you do get good value for your 80 MSPs. Well worth checking out if you are interested in shooters or fancy something a little different!

Overall, I would have to say that I like this game. It’s simple enough for beginners to be able to use it but has the potential to provide seasoned gamers with a little bit of a challenge.
